FORUT, the development organisation for the IOGT movement in Norway and JUBA are organising a summer concert in connection with Experience 2010. For many years FORUT has had a project in norwegian kindergardens showing children how children in a development country at their own age live. For some years it has been norwegian artist Geirr Lystrup who has been the musical voice to this project, and being responsible for up to 60 – 80 000 norwegian children going around singing “Yebo! Yebo!”.
Yebo is a boy in the project from Sierra Leone. Together with Vasana from Sri Lanka and Omis from Nepal he has been the main character in the project. With one of the CDs “The song about Yebo”, Lystrup also got “Spellemannsprisen”, which is the highest award in the norwegian music industry, for best childrens CD that year.
Together with his band Lystrup will have his concert 3 August at 13.00 just before the opening of the IOGT World congress. Schools and kindergartens in the area is also invited to this concert.
Thursday in the congress week we are combining two traditional events at the congress. The fair and the international cultural evening. This will happen at Isegran, which is a big green area on the opposite bank of the river to the old town. There the whole congress will gather for an afternoon of activities and cultural experiences. And there will be something to eat from the grill. This is included in the congress fee. The only thing we ask from you is that you bring something from your own country and/or contribute with something on the stage.
Allready now we invite you give us a note if you want to participate at the stage program. We have set around 5-10 minutes as the time everyone get`s. From earlier experiences we know that this might be hard for some, but it might be better for those watching… Besides this we are not seting any limits to what you can show us. Send us your name and what you are planning to do to help@experience2010.no
At the fair participants can bring something which you think symbolises your country in a good way, perhabs something to eat or some traditional activity. We will provide tables and chair at the place. At the fair Active participants will also collect money to some worthy cause using their creativity.
To this fair we will also invite people from Fredrikstad, so this will be a way to show IOGT and Active to the town.
Looking forward to see your contributions!
