Come celebrate

If you’re attending Experience 2010, you will get the chance to celebrate Active’s 20 year anniversary.

Ever heard of the International Good Templar Youth Federation? Well, that was the name of what was Active many years ago. The International Good Templar Youth Federation, or IGTYF, was the international organization for youth’s organizations over the whole world, and was bigger than IOGT International itself for some periods.

This happened in 1962. Almost 30 years later IGTYF and IOGT International became one organization, while the European youth organizations made EGTYF (European Good Templar Youth Federation). This is the Active we know today. The name was changed to “Active – Sobriety, friendship and peace” – or just “Active” in 2006.

The congress is held every other year, the latest one in Sweden 2008. The Congress is the highest authority in Active, that will discuss and approve the plan of action for 2010-2012 and new policy programmes that will be proposed, as well as elect a new board. It’s possible to participate in this congress for Active members, and some may be delegates with voting right.

But it’s not just the seminar this time. At the congress there will be a big anniversary party where Active will celebrate 20 years. The party will take place August 2. As a part of the programme, you will see the Active board perform, you can join the debate with guests such as Robert Madelin (DG Sanco), we will dance, we will celebrate!

Welcome to Experience 2010’s web pages. They’re finally released, now open for registration.

www.experience2010.no is the official sites of this summer’s coolest happening. Fredrikstad in Norway has honor to host ACTIVE’s summer camp, ACTIVE’s congress and IOGT International World Congress in one week, from July 31 – August 7.

At the top you can see three menu items for each event if you want more information about them. At the green sidebar to the right, there is some big buttons for common sites, such as registration and travel information. You can also sign up for our newsletter there, if you want to get news and information in your inbox.

The way forward to July, we will post more detailed information about the events, practical information as they come along, programs, joint activities, questions and answers and so on. Stay tuned!
