However, it can be hard to know what to pack, particularly if you do it for the first time. Therefore we provide you with some official packing guidelines, helping you find the right things for the trip.

Find the proper equipment

At the very first, you have to find something to have all your luggage in. This depends on how you’re planning to sleep. If you’re going to sleep in a hotel, a suitcase will probably be the best. If you’re going to sleep in a tent, a backpack should work just fine for that.

You won’t need nothing. What a wonderful world!

Tent sleeper

A mat, a pillow and a sleeping bag should be what you need here. However, it can be a bit cold at nighttime, so bring a blanket too.

You might also need a tent. Before your departure, make sure that the tent has all the equipment in order, and you might “test drive” it.

Clothing

Depending on how long your stay will be, and what you’re going to do, you have to plan one t-shirt and one briefs for each day. The rest you might not need very often. Trousers, socks and a sweater should find its way here.

However, remember that in the sun, you can get very hot, and you sweat a lot. Also consider possibilities for bad and rainy weather. Remember a jacket!

If you’re planning to bath, pack shorts/bikini and a towel.

Care

Take care of yourself! Bring a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap/shampoo, hairbrush, shaving equipments, medications and other things you use. Pack soap and other floating things in separate plastic bags.

Summer things!

Since Fredrikstad got Scandinavia’s best summer weather, you should of cause bring sun glasses, sunscreen and mosquito remedy. A water bottle can also be something to have, but this can be brought in Norway, so you won’t have to pack it.

Documents

For getting into Norway, you might need some documents. You MUST remember your passport and your visa if you got that.

Also bring all your tickets you brought, and take a copy of them to be left home, if they get lost on your trip.

For having your documents together, a simple binder should be enough. Keep this at a safe place in your hand luggage, where it’s unable to be lost and to be stolen by pickpockets.

Don’t forget to download and print the Experience 2010 travel guide, and all other time tables you know you need.

Money

Never go outboard without enough money. Bring both a debit/credit card, and some cash. Check with your local bank and conditions about exchanging to Norwegian Kroner (NOK). Also check with your card company about prices of use outboard.

Technical things

Your cell phone should your pocket everywhere you go. Bring it with you, and also check with your cell phone carrier about prices in Norway. Using a cell phone outboard can be very expensive! Also remember to bring your charger.

If you’re going to bring with you a laptop, remember a laptop bag and charger for it.

If you’re going to bring with you a 12 inch portable TV, you’re attending the wrong Experience.

Joy and fun!

Hey, to get the maximum experience, why don’t bring your camera (remember charger and extra memory card), or a good book for your trip.

Some general packing guidelines

• Only pack the things you NEED. Not the things you might think you need.
• Don’t pack anything floating in your hand luggage if travelling by air.
• Pack yourself. Don’t let your mom do it.
• If packing something you wear on your shoulders or at your back, remember that it should be comfortable to wear.
• If packing in a backpack, only let big things like mats and tents be hanging outside. The rest should be INSIDE the backpack.
• Pack things you know you need at the very first, at the top of your baggage.

Åge Sten Nilsen

Kongstenhallen, Wednesday August 4, 20.00.

One of the main events will undoubtedly be the Norwegian artist Åge Sten Nilsen. However, most people knows he as the lead singer in the band Wig Wam, which won Eurosong Norway in 2005. He later participated in Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv in 2005, representing Norway. Wig Wam claimed top 10.

Åge has for a long time wanted to have his own musical show, and he therefore made “The show must go on”, which is a tribute for Queen. Since the premiere in October 2007, it’s has been a huge success with a lot of sold out concerts. Total sale has been around 60 000 tickets. The show is together with the two Norwegians Stian Joneid and Jonas Groth.

Elvira Nikolaisen

Opening consert at Experience 2010, Saturday July 31, 21.45, for Active participants.

Elvira Nikolaisen is born in 1980, and is today a Norwegian pianoist and singer of popmusic. She is from a family with a rich varity of music traditions, and lives today in the town called “Moss”.

Her debute was in 2006, with the album “Quiet Exit” with the hit singels “Egypt Song” and “Love I Can’t Defend” is from. Elvira composes and sings her songs by herself. Her second album “Indian Summer” has the same musical style as her first, and was produced together with her boyfriend, a earlier singer in Big Bang and Turboneger.

Elise Vatsvåg

Opening consert at Experience 2010, Saturday July 31, 21.00, for Active participants

Elise Vatsvaag was born in Stavanger, a small city on the west coast of Norway, September 1990, and is therefore the youngest artist at Experience 2010. Her dad has always a professional guitar player, so she has always been surronded by musics. At the age of thirteen she became a band vocalist, something that eventually would lead her on to the idea of starting her own solo project.

She was inspired by artist like Eva Cassidy, Jack Johnson, Katie Melua, Norah Jones, and also Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and other jazz singers. Last year, she signed a contract with a Stavanger based  production company. That very same year she got the opportunity to work with producer and student Ling Wang from The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at New York University. In January 2010, she spent some time in New York, recording her first professional EP, which will be released in early Fall 2010.

The Experience 2010 organizing committee are looking forward to see you in Fredrikstad, but we want you to find the way. Therefore, we have put together this booklet.

The only thing you have to do is to print this out, staple it together and fold it. Then it can be put in your back pocket or hangbag – or take it with you on your phone if you want to!

There will be three shifts during each night, each needing two guards.

• 11 p.m. – 2 a.m.
• 2 a.m. – 5 a.m.
• 5 a.m. – 8 a.m.

Depending on how good you are at signing up for this help, we may need to reduce to two shifts, or increase to four.

Everyone over 18 can sign up, but group leaders are especially encouraged to assist. We’re really happy if someone can take more than one watch. The watches for each night meet in the reception area at 10.45 p.m. for a short briefing.

Under a month now!

During Experience 2010, Active will held their congress of 2010. The congress is between the first and third of August, at Gudeberg school.

The Active board has now released the congress documents for the congress. You can download them at Active’s website.

During Experience 2010 a daily newspaper will be available during breakfast, where you can read and discuss it with your friends. But since we are looking forward to it so much, we already has written the first issue of the newspaper; The Daily Experience.

Please mind the newspaper is primaliry for Active participants, and this issue is written with some Norwegian base.

Yebo is a boy in the project from Sierra Leone. Together with Vasana from Sri Lanka and Omis from Nepal he has been the main character in the project. With one of the CDs “The song about Yebo”, Lystrup also got “Spellemannsprisen”, which is the highest award in the norwegian music industry, for best childrens CD that year.

Together with his band Lystrup will have his concert 3 August at 13.00 just before the opening of the IOGT World congress. Schools and kindergartens in the area is also invited to this concert.

Allready now we invite you give us a note if you want to participate at the stage program. We have set around 5-10 minutes as the time everyone get`s. From earlier experiences we know that this might be hard for some, but it might be better for those watching… Besides this we are not seting any limits to what you can show us. Send us your name and what you are planning to do to help@experience2010.no

At the fair participants can bring something which you think symbolises your country in a good way, perhabs something to eat or some traditional activity. We will provide tables and chair at the place. At the fair Active participants will also collect money to some worthy cause using their creativity.

To this fair we will also invite people from Fredrikstad, so this will be a way to show IOGT and Active to the town.
