Travel information: by airplane
Travelling by airplane is often a preferred choice. It’s fast and easy. The bad things is that it costs a bit more and it’s not environmentally friendly, if you care about that. But sometimes, plane is the only choice.
Airports
You can travel to whatever airport you want to, but we really reccormend these:
- Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) is Norway’s main airport, and therefore also the biggest of them all. Visit osl.no for more information.
- Moss Airport Rygge is a smaller airport, but it’s located closer to Fredrikstad than Gardermoen. Norwegian and Ryanair flies to and from Rygge. For more information about Moss Airport Rygge, visit their homepage.
You have to check your local airliner for prices and destinations. If you want to travel a Norwegian airliner, you can checkĀ Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).
Transport from the airports
From Oslo Airport Gardermoen
Fredrikstad is south of Oslo, while Gardermoen is north of Oslo. Therefore, you have to go through Oslo first. If you arrive a day or two earlier, you can stay in Oslo for a while if you like. There are several options on getting there:
- Take the Airport Express Train (Flytoget) to Oslo Central Station (Oslo Sentralstasjon/Oslo S). Then take the local train with NSB from Oslo Central Station to Fredrikstad. Click here for more info!
- Take the local train with NSB from the airport to Oslo Centralstation, and then the local train to Fredrikstad. Click here for more info.
- Take the Airport Express Coach (Flybussen) or any other bus to Oslo. Click here for more info.
